The Smiths Detection ADP-2000 Portable Chemical Detector is a handheld monitor for the detection and identification of a variety if chemical agents including nerve (Tabun, Sarin, Soman and VX), blister (mustard), and tear (pepper spray and mace) agents. The detector reports high concentrations of most detected agents within 10 seconds.

The interferent-resistant monitor simultaneously detects multiple chemical agents using ion mobility spectroscopy (IMS) technology. The detector draws air sample into reaction chamber where its constituent molecules are ionized and channeled toward an ion detector. The unit then distinguishes between molecules based on the speed with which they move toward the ion detector. A dosimeter measures gamma radiation exposure rates from 0.01 mrem/hr. to 1000 rem/hr. and dose from 0.1 mrem to 1000 rem.
